Steven Sharif Beat Contempt. The Judge Isn’t Buying It A federal judge told Steven Sharif and John Moore she was "very unhappy" with how they handled her order to turn over Intrepid Studios' tech, and then denied Intrepid's motion to hold them in contempt. This is a win for Sharif on paper. But the judge also ordered sworn statements naming who ran every Ashes of Creation system, with a $500-a-day penalty if they're late, and she warned there will be "serious repercussions" if this comes back to her. I break down the court-appointed receiver, the case schedule (no trial before 2028), Intrepid's $30,000-a-day contempt request, Sharif and Moore's "you can't hand over keys you don't have" defense, everything the judge said at the October 15 hearing, and Intrepid's attempt to have them declared in default. Did Sharif win this one, or did the judge just give him one last chance? Tell me in the comments. Links: https://linktr.ee/theoryforge I'm a psychiatrist, not a lawyer. This video is commentary and is not legal advice. Allegations in court filings are claims that haven't been proven unless a court has ruled on them. #AshesOfCreation #IntrepidStudios #StevenSharif

Name One Game Without a Meta Is there any game with a competitive edge that doesn't end up with a meta? As soon as being the best matters, players share builds and optimize until everyone runs the same thing. I'd love to find a game where players were free to play however they wanted without it hurting how they interact with the world and other players. I honestly don't know if one exists. Can you name a competitive game or MMORPG without a meta? Drop it in the comments. 🔗 All my links (Twitch, TikTok, Discord & more): https://linktr.ee/theoryforge #MMORPG #GameDesign #Shorts

Classic WoW Was the Original Retail Every WoW Forever conversation turns into the same fight: keep it Classic and don't bring any retail stuff in. That makes me laugh, because Classic WoW was the original retail MMORPG. Before it, games like EverQuest were punishing, and WoW took that difficult genre and made it easier and more accessible. That's why I'm playing Monsters and Memories here, since it's built in the old-school style Classic WoW streamlined. So what does "retail" even mean? Was Classic WoW the casual version of its era, or is the comparison unfair? Crafting Skill Should Beat RNG While playing Monsters and Memories, I got to thinking about how crafting should work, especially compared to New World. If I'm designing a game and my character gets better at making swords, I should have more control over what comes out of the forge. I can understand some randomness when you're starting out, but as your skill climbs, the RNG should shrink until a master crafter can make exactly what they set out to make. Should high-level crafting still have RNG, or should skill win out? ArcheAge Chronicles Free Demo: PvP Is Finally Here (Know This First) Disclosure: I'm part of the ArcheAge Chronicles Partner Creator Program, which provides giveaway codes and creative assets. XLGAMES doesn't review or approve my videos. Note: A Producers Letter came out after recording this with two quick corrections: - For gender locked classes: The letter says work on more gender options has started, rolling out a few classes at a time, though none of it is in the demo. - For switching to PvP: This unlocks once you leave the first town and reach the Nui Statue at your next stop The ArcheAge Chronicles free demo comes to Steam for Next Fest, October 19–26, and it's the first time anyone can try PvP in a public build. I cover the demo times worldwide, the four classes, how PvP channels work, the new Throne of Hinnon dungeon, the progression system, and what's missing from this build, including housing, trade, and progress carry-over to Early Access. I Played Monsters & Memories... 30,000 Players Are Paying for THIS Monsters & Memories is the closest thing to classic EverQuest I've played in years, and close to 30,000 people are already paying $15 a month for it in early access. Maybe Pay to Win Doesn’t Matter I was playing Monsters and Memories with friends and started wondering whether pay to win is really the problem we make it out to be. If my group skips the cash shop, earns our rewards, and has fun, does it matter that someone I'll never play with spends a few hundred or a few thousand dollars on their version of the same game? If they aren't affecting my experience, I'm not sure it does. I don't have a final answer on this one. Someone Else Having Fun Doesn't Hurt You Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theoryforge While playing World of Warcraft Forever, we got onto something that bothers me about gaming communities: why do we care so much when other people enjoy games we don't like? There are games for everyone. Someone finding their fun in an MMO that doesn't appeal to you doesn't somehow make your experience worse. And a game becoming successful doesn't suddenly make it deserving of hate just because it isn't designed around what you want. Instead of spending years telling everyone why their game sucks, maybe we should spend that energy finding the game that makes us want to log in every day. You don't have to understand someone else's fun to let them have it. What's the game that gives YOU that feeling? #mmorpg #gamingcommunity #worldofwarcraft #gaming

This Is Part of the Classic WoW Experience One thing you'll immediately notice playing World of Warcraft Forever is that regular enemies can take longer to kill than they do in Retail WoW. And personally, I like it. Slower time-to-kill means individual mobs matter more. Pulling another enemy can become a problem, you have more time to actually use your abilities, and combat becomes something you have to pay attention to rather than simply blowing through everything. To me, that's part of the Classic experience WoW Forever is trying to bring back. But where's the sweet spot? Do you prefer the slower Classic-style combat, or the faster pace of Retail? #worldofwarcraft #wowforever #mmorpg #classicwow

Modern MMOs Are Missing an Entire Role While playing World of Warcraft Forever, I started thinking about something modern MMORPGs have largely left behind: true support classes. Older MMOs gave us classes like the Bard and Enchanter that weren't defined primarily by tanking, healing, or topping a damage meter. They could buff the group, debuff enemies, control encounters, regenerate resources, and completely change what a party was capable of doing. Then MMOs increasingly settled into tank, healer, DPS — and an entire style of class design started disappearing. I miss being able to contribute to a group without everything ultimately being measured by damage or healing. Bring back the support class. Would you play one? #mmorpg #supportclass #worldofwarcraft #oldschoolmmo

Did Ashes of Creation’s Source Code Leak? Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theoryforge While streaming World of Warcraft Forever, the conversation turned to something potentially much bigger: there may be Ashes of Creation code circulating in the wild. The important word here is may. A claim like this needs to be verified before treating it as fact. But if authentic Ashes of Creation source code has actually escaped into the wild, that raises some enormous questions about security, the future of the game, private servers, exploits, and what happens next. Until we know exactly what the files are and where they came from, skepticism is warranted. But this is absolutely something worth watching. #mmorpg #ashesofcreation #lawsuit

Open World PvP Was Never Going to Survive Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theoryforge While playing ArcheAge Chronicles, I got asked what I would have changed about PvP in Ashes of Creation. The interesting thing is... I actually liked how the PvP worked. The bigger question was whether Ashes could realistically maintain its original vision of widespread open-world PvP. Even during development, we were already watching pieces of that vision get chipped away as Intrepid tried to balance PvP freedom against griefing, player retention, and accessibility. If development had continued down that path, would truly open-world PvP have eventually disappeared? And would that have made Ashes better — or taken away part of what made it unique? #mmorpg #openworldpvp #pvpgames #ashesofcreation

How did it hit me Am I wrong here? I enjoyed ArcheAge Chronicles and this was a networking test but this needs to get better before early access, please. There is probably not much worse in a combat based game than when you feel like your control has no impact on the outcome of a fight. Is TFE Changing Strategy Against Steven Sharif? | Ashes of Creation Lawsuit The legal fight surrounding Ashes of Creation and Intrepid Studios may be moving in a new direction. In the previous video, we looked at the fight over Intrepid’s secured debt, creditor priority, and how much TFE could potentially use in a future credit bid. Now several new filings raise a different question: are Robert Dawson, TFE, and people connected to their side beginning to attack the positions that allow Steven Sharif to keep pursuing his lawsuit? In this video we look at three developments: Aaron Bartels is suing to obtain Steven Sharif’s 10% ownership interest in Intrepid Studios after that stock was pledged as collateral for a $4 million loan. Complaint: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1q1Y5WK9S1DgQoaap0WlMaHn9FENVTJ8D/view?usp=sharing Errata: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l5ucST3e2GvOpaVRH0htQAwc2gmkWZL8/view?usp=sharing CommerceWest Bank’s UCC secured-party position has been assigned to Dawnfire, LLC. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k4sG_yw6R_dWXvxDKN7d1RnF1i15x3I0/view?usp=sharing The TFE defendants are seeking CommerceWest’s loan records, including documents involving any sale, transfer, assignment, or participation in the loan. https://drive.google.com/file/d/10pPkdaVKgdilBLfWj4z1xiT5H8R3-L54/view?usp=sharing None of these filings proves a coordinated strategy to remove Steven Sharif’s standing, and there are ordinary legal and financial explanations for each move individually. But taken together, their potential effect on the ongoing shareholder derivative lawsuit is worth examining. This video walks through the actual court filings, what they establish, what they do not establish, and why the legal fight over Intrepid Studios may be expanding beyond the foreclosure itself. 00:00 - The Lawsuit May Be Changing Direction 01:35 - Bartels Goes After Steven Sharif’s Shares 03:06 - Why Steven’s Shares Matter to the Federal Case 04:39 - CommerceWest’s Secured Position Moves to Dawnfire 06:33 - TFE Subpoenas CommerceWest — A New Strategy? #AshesOfCreation #IntrepidStudios #StevenSharif #MMORPG #gamingnews

Is TFE’s $84 Million Ashes of Creation Debt Really Secured? Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD The $84 million secured debt claim at the center of the Ashes of Creation lawsuit is now facing serious scrutiny. Robert Dawson and TFE Games Holdings have claimed roughly $84 million in secured debt against Intrepid Studios — a number that could give TFE an enormous advantage in a second Article 9 foreclosure through a credit bid. But Steven Sharif's attorneys are challenging whether all of that debt is actually secured. Court filings now show that many of the original promissory notes were documented as unsecured, while Dawson and TFE acknowledge that the versions now described as the “Secured Notes,” along with the purported 2022 Security Agreement, were executed by Intrepid on December 15, 2025. There are also questions involving the May 2024 UCC filing, the June 2024 Master Settlement Agreement, later conversion amendments, corporate approval of the alleged all-assets lien, and how the claimed secured balance grew from roughly $45 million listed in a 2024 agreement to more than $84 million. Judge Linda Lopez has now ordered an independent review of the loan documents to determine which notes are actually secured and how much secured debt Intrepid really owes. Any future foreclosure will also receive neutral oversight. That number could determine how much TFE can credit bid — and potentially who can realistically compete for control of Ashes of Creation. This video breaks down the filings, the arguments from Steven Sharif's legal team, Dawson and TFE's position, and what the court has actually decided. 171. 8.6.2026 STATUS REPORT Regarding Purported Secured Debt and Promissory Notes: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16sKgZ6NxzzYwK-3phA9lrbbdjYqOWV8k/view?usp=sharing 153. 7.2.2026 STATUS REPORT Defendants' Individual Status Report: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S5BBtFcX9nh2Z7-xTcVC_d55t0noiEIH/view?usp=sharing 153-1. 7.2.2026 STATUS REPORT Defendants' Individual Status Report: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Jk69YOyQIivKH7h8Z9MwozyLDUo2uwaC/view?usp=sharing 153-57. 7.2.2026 STATUS REPORT Defendants' Individual Status Report: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_Z63P7zGvrx-JWOoP-3LVMvAmnMtH2QC/view?usp=sharing 134. 6.22.2026 ORDER (1) for Supplemental Actions; and (2) Setting Hearing on Crossmotions for Receiver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uIjhR19FdrCGBTY7pre_jBU3P-6-XInS/view?usp=sharing 121-2. 5.19.2026 DECLARATION re 119 Response in Opposition to Motion, Declaration of Robert Dawson: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Mj1O6oiZWH9qXWGf2YMx3K5qpV92ioex/view?usp=sharing 119. 5.19.2026 RESPONSE in Opposition re 78 MOTION to Appoint Receiver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wRvyf1LgLEEGKb6sCDe0d5OPidIeJYOa/view?usp=sharing 58-4. 3.25.2026 RESPONSE re 20 Order on Motion for TRO, 56 Order on Motion for Miscellaneous Relief: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wdUmYMSGaaQseC_CtCMCfzlH2Luwvmp1/view?usp=sharing Three Unsecured Promissory Notes: Theory Forge 78-7. 4.14.2026 MOTION to Appoint Receiver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ygNnfcpQlbBZMBtshTcxrz6S6KuSnQI_/view?usp=sharing Theory Forge 78-8. 4.14.2026 MOTION to Appoint Receiver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kdodbahMn3t1zp4edNRr9CiItB8jgP80/view?usp=sharing Theory Forge 78-9. 4.14.2026 MOTION to Appoint Receiver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z3eVcXh2RgMWza_Xtw8EiwdW0RTyWyjr/view?usp=sharing Transcript Sharif v Dawson 8-11-26 Motion Hearing: https://drive.google.com/file/d/151KjTBPMFWNYhW93oe6Lyak-ad72VS__/view?usp=sharing 00:00 The $84 Million Question 01:03 The Judge Finds Unsecured Notes 01:49 The December 15, 2025 Execution 02:58 The Strange 2020 Note 03:43 The Alleged Oral Agreement 04:49 How Does $45 Million Become $84 Million? 05:34 The UCC Filing and Transfer to TFE 06:36 The Sealed Master Settlement Agreement 07:33 The Insider Transaction Problem 09:14 The Court Orders Independent Review #AshesOfCreation #mmorpg

Did EverQuest Legends End Fighting Over Camps? Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD One of the biggest differences between EverQuest Legends and the original EverQuest is instancing. Instead of everything happening in one persistent shared version of the world, EverQuest Legends can create instances of content for you and your group. That changes how you approach progression, difficulty, farming, and playing with friends. It definitely isn't how the original EverQuest worked — but from a gameplay perspective, I think it's much better. It keeps a lot of what I enjoy about EverQuest while removing some of the friction that came with the original design. Would you rather have the completely shared world of classic EverQuest, or do you think instancing makes for a better game? #everquest #everquestlegends #mmorpg #oldschoolmmo

Cozy MMOs Are Winning... But Is That Good? It feels like cozy MMOs are starting to find a much bigger audience. Games like Palia have shown that an online world doesn’t always have to revolve around raids, PvP, or hardcore progression. There’s clearly an audience that wants crafting, gathering, housing, exploration, and simply hanging out with other players. I’m playing Farever here, but it got me thinking about where this part of the genre is headed. Do you think cozy MMOs are becoming more popular? And more importantly, is that a good thing for the MMO genre? #mmorpg #cozy #mmo #palia #farever

Ashes of Creation: Steven Sharif Sued by His Former Lawyers for $1 Million Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD YouTube: https://YouTube.com/theoryforge The Ashes of Creation legal saga has another major development. Steven Sharif and John Moore are now being sued by their former law firm, Withers Bergman LLP, which claims the pair owe more than $1.067 million in unpaid legal fees and costs. Complaint: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CG3usVCmI-En8PHRnkXCO8rh-I-WGTCC/view?usp=sharing The lawsuit says Withers billed Sharif and Moore nearly $1.9 million while representing them in the growing collection of legal disputes surrounding Intrepid Studios. According to the complaint, approximately $824,000 was paid before payments allegedly stopped. What makes this particularly interesting is the timeline. At the end of June, Steven Sharif suddenly replaced Withers Bergman in the ongoing Sharif v. Dawson litigation with a new legal team. At the time, the attorney change caused several hearings and deadlines to be pushed back while the new lawyers attempted to get up to speed on the massive case. Now, a little over a month later, the former law firm has filed its own lawsuit against Sharif and Moore. In this video, I go through the new complaint, the enormous legal bills, the attorney switch in the original Intrepid lawsuit, and what this new case could potentially mean for the continuing fight surrounding Ashes of Creation and Intrepid Studios. As always, these are allegations contained in court filings. Steven Sharif and John Moore will have the opportunity to respond, and none of these allegations should be treated as proven simply because a lawsuit has been filed. And yes — after about two months away, we are finally back covering the Ashes of Creation legal saga. There is apparently a lot to catch up on. #AshesOfCreation #StevenSharif #IntrepidStudios #MMORPG #GamingNews

Upgrade Your Gear Without Replacing It Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theoryforge One feature I really like in EverQuest Legends is how gear progression works. Instead of constantly throwing away old equipment, you can merge duplicate items together to increase their power, eventually upgrading them all the way to higher enhancement levels. Even better, many item effects like procs and clickies can be moved between weapons, giving you much more freedom to customize your build without starting over every time you find an upgrade. It's a refreshing take on MMO itemization that rewards collecting duplicates instead of making them vendor trash. #everquest #everquestlegends #mmorpg #gamedesign #gaming

EverQuest Legends Made It Less Punishing Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theoryforge One thing that surprises a lot of players coming into EverQuest Legends is how forgiving death is compared to the original EverQuest. Instead of harsh penalties like losing experience or risking permanent setbacks, the biggest consequence is your time. You have to make your way back to where you died and get back into the action. It's still enough to make death matter, especially in dangerous areas, but it doesn't erase hours of progress. Do you prefer lighter death penalties like this, or should MMORPGs make dying a much bigger risk? #everquest #everquestlegends #mmorpg #oldschoolmmo

Community Can Make Any Game Feel Special Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theoryforge One thing I keep realizing is how important community is to a game — even outside MMORPGs. Take Crimson Desert for example. It’s primarily a single-player experience, but people are still gathering around it, sharing discoveries, theorycrafting, reacting to gameplay, and building excitement together. That sense of shared experience changes how a game feels. A strong community can make a good game memorable. Sometimes it can even make an average game feel alive. Games matter. But the people around them matter too. #mmorpg #community #crimsondesert

The MMO Dream We Keep Chasing Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theoryforge Discord: https://discord.gg/33CsQAtRGD TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theoryforge My dream MMORPG experience has never really been about graphics or gear scores. It’s about logging in with friends, wandering into places we’ve never seen before, getting lost, discovering secrets, fighting monsters we probably shouldn’t fight yet, and creating stories together along the way. That feeling of exploration and shared adventure is what made MMOs magical to me in the first place. And honestly… I think a lot of us are still chasing that feeling. #mmorpg #ashesofcreation #crimsondesert
