Meet Jam ❤️ She’s sweet, she’s spunky, and she’s looking for the peanut butter to her jelly! 🥜🍓 At just 1 year old, Jam has already been on quite the journey. She made her way to SPCA Cincinnati all the way from Alabama through our Shelter-to-Shelter Program ahead of Hurricane Isaias. At just 5 months old, Jordan has already been through so much! He arrived at SPCA Cincinnati from a hoarding situation, severely underweight and struggling to breathe. Our medical team identified feline calicivirus, with an upper respiratory infection among the worst they had seen. Severe congestion and a large, painful ulcer on his tongue showed just how much this little kitten was facing. But Jordan finally had a team in his corner. With treatment, dedicated care, and time to heal, he’s recovered and is ready for adoption. His next chapter? A home where he can feel safe, loved, and simply enjoy being a kitten. As Hurricane Isaias approached the Gulf Coast, SPCA Cincinnati welcomed seven dogs from Mobile County Animal Shelter in Mobile, Alabama, through a rescue transport coordinated by BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Animal Incident Management® team. These dogs were already living in the shelter and waiting for adoptive families before the storm. Their journey to Cincinnati helped create critical shelter space for pets who may be displaced by Hurricane Isaias and families needing support. We’re grateful to BISSELL Pet Foundation and every shelter partner who made this lifesaving effort possible. For these seven dogs, the search for a loving home continues right here in Cincinnati. When Daisy was surrendered two months ago, her family could no longer afford the medication she needed. She arrived with one of the most severe cases of skin irritation and infection our team has seen. With treatment and a whole lot of care, Daisy’s skin has healed and she’s feeling so much better. When Clementine arrived at SPCA Cincinnati, her condition was critical. She was severely anemic, and our medical team discovered that she had a deceased kitten inside of her that her body was unable to deliver. Before surgery could even be an option, Clementine needed blood - and fast. That’s when another cat in our care became part of her story. 🥹 Thanks to a lifesaving blood donation from one of our own adoptable cats, Clementine was stabilized enough for our veterinary team to perform surgery and remove the kitten. And Clementine made it. ❤️ This is the side of animal sheltering you may not always see. Behind every adoption photo are veterinary teams, shelter staff, volunteers and sometimes even other animals doing everything possible to give a pet another chance. Today, Clementine’s story gets to continue because a team refused to give up on her - and because one very special shelter cat unknowingly became a hero. And the best part?
