I know the hospital is doing what’s best for you, and I understand. I know you’re still fighting, still trying to grow stronger. I know you’re fighting a battle right now, and your body needs rest, care, and time. Some friends ask why I don’t have a picture of you. Not just because of the hospital or NICU protocols, honestly, it’s okay. Because the photo I want to have — the one I dream of — is you smiling, with no oxygen support, no wires, no pain on your face. I’m waiting for that day, the day your eyes are bright and your face is peaceful, when your tiny body is no longer fighting but resting in my arms and spending quality time with me. Your grannies, titos and titas are very excited to see you. Your mommy is waiting too, in her own quiet way. She’s been pumping breast milk every day, holding onto hope just like I am — preparing for the moment you’re strong enough to feed, to be nourished by her love. Every drop she gives is filled with prayers and dreams for you, our brave little boy. I named you Liam because it means “Warrior.” And that’s exactly who you are. You’ve shown us strength beyond measure. I’m so proud of you, and I miss you more than words can say. I pray every single day — for your healing, for your comfort, for the moment I can finally hold you and whisper, “Daddy’s here, anak.” Not being able to be with you is the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. But I will wait. I will wait for however long it takes for you to heal. I will wait until the day I can finally hold your hand, kiss your forehead, and whisper how much I love you. Until then, I will continue to visit, to pray, and to hope — because I know you are doing your very best, and I am so proud of you. We may be separated by hospital walls, but I am with you, Anak.
