“The pink lavalamp” is one of, if not THE most enjoyable experience music has to offer. And besides the inhumane consistency (which is up there with when the pawn in terms of that) The most striking detail about this beast of an album is the compressed, oddly flat mixing. And as a producer I can tell you, shit doesn't sound like that. Either he intentionally used compressed audio files, or fiddled with the master. And, why did he do that? Well, to make the beats, and his rapping, sound like they're a part of the sampled song, instead of doing the opposite like pretty much every rapper I've ever heard. And that, combined with the consistency, charle’s commandingly playful delivery, the lyrics that are almost brutal in their contrast (done best on the first track) make for an overall flawless listening experience. And now I would like to gush about the lyrics, or more accurately, one specific lyrical theme within the album. that lyrical theme being the personification (and romanticization) of music. Some people have dived into the backstory of the album, but I feel it's not needed for me to go over. The album does that in itself, and very well, I might add. Most songs here have some pretty generic pop rappy sexual lyrics, but every few tracks you get hit with the “man im so alone music is the only thing i got music is my girl” type thing to rock you back into place. (Best done in the song: latte. I also have to mention the part where just does the lyrics from closer lol i love that) So overall, the pink lavalamp is an absolute masterclass in album construction, consistency, vibes, and gimmicks (the master which isn't shitty enough to impact the music negatively, but instead does the opposite) 10/10 no notes. Pretty much everything i could want in a project!! NO DUDS, songs stick to a fitting vibe and genre, but in a diffrent way that makes it constatly entratining, the songs flow into eachother perfectly and serve as the best follow ups structure wise. The energetic, straight-to-your-face instrumentals contrast her vocal range in a way that makes sense, no matter if she does a more distorted scream, or soft spoken rnb delivery. It also has a sick cover art. Just some extremely solid and consistent pop punk rock EP. Kinda sounds like a full album without the filler, in the nicest way possible. Besides the drumming in skeleton, i wouldn't say theres anything completely groundbreaking. Just an extremely good time, very well structured. Vocals were annoying in some sections but thats because they drew some inspiration from points of emo i dont really connect with yet. #musicreview #albumreview #fyp #musictok #poppunk
