Shaping Lucy’s fetch. Which will turn into pile work then translate to teaching her to flush. This is her 3rd session doing this. Shoutout to @High Boot K9 for putting me on these freeze dried liver treats for training #goldenretriever #flushingdog #upland #dogtrainer #birddog

Tuning up honey some for this season. Terrible scent conditions this morning and it didn’t matter for my girl. Like riding a bike. #germanshorthairpointer #gsp #upland #dogtrainer #birddog

We build absolute savages here. Don’t matter if the bird don’t want to flush. Bodee said I’ll make you fly 😂 #germanshorthairpointer #gsp #upland #dogtrainer #birddog

How to cardboard and plant birds #birddog #germanshorthairpointer #gsp #upland #dogtrainer

You never really know what kind of dog you have until you start putting in the work. But with every rep, you learn a little more about them. What makes them tick, what they’re capable of, and how to bring out the best in them. Bodee has been one hell of a surprise around here. Every time I work this dog, he impresses me more and more. He just has IT. He’s still young and has a lot to learn, but man, the potential is there. His bird drive is through the roof, he’s starting to get really steady, and his retrieve is something special. Dogs like Bodee are what make this job so much fun. Watching that potential turn into something real, one rep at a time. He looks pretty sharp with at @Hoss Straps TT25 replacement collar too. #birddog #germanshorthairpointer #gsp #upland #dogtrainer

Yall meet Annie from @classicgundogs #birddog #germanshorthairpointer #gsp #upland #dogtrainer

Remy got burnt on an ecollar by another trainer. It’s taken time to show her she can trust a handler and it can be communication. We’ve taken it really carefully the whole time through. You can see she’s starting to love it all again. She’s one of the sweetest labs I’ve ever met and she’s going to be one hell of a duck dog. #birddog #labradorretriever #blacklab #duckdog #waterfowl

Got to be honest….I never thought Jet’s obedience would turn out this clean. My guy is dialed! #birddog #labradorretriever #blacklab #duckdog #waterfowl

This is how working labs should look. Muscular and lean. In shape year around. Argue with a wall. #birddog #labradorretriever #foxredlab #duckdog #lab

Handling and training a dog is about teamwork. It’s not about telling a dog what to do. It’s about the common goal and working towards it together. Every rep. Every Session. Every hunt. #birddog #germanshorthairpointer #gsp #upland #labradorretriever

Elle a sweet little GSP. She’s really understand the game. Work the field properly, be steady on point no matter what, come back when I tell you to. Here weakness is her retrieve. She loves to go after the birds but won’t quite pick them up. We will continue some hold work and the owner will have some homework but hopefully the lights turn on when she goes out on wild birds. Most of the time it does. If not plan B will be come back in the off season and we will continue building that retrieve! #birddog #gsp #germanshorthairpointer #upland

Jett is really starting to figure it out. He came here so wild and uncontrollable. He’s worked hard though. Every day he’s got more structured and disciplined. Then know when it’s time to turn it off and just be Jett Man. #blacklab #duckdog #dogtrainer #waterfowl #birddog

@Hoss Straps helping me get payback for what Tayler did to me. I’m such a kind boss who doesn’t deserve to be treated that way. It’s a shame the disrespect the youth have for us. #dogtrainer #payback #hossstraps

@High Boot K9 dog bit me and @Transformed Gundogs #bitework #malinois #protectiondogs #dogtrainer

@Transformed Gundogs came to Texas to learn some upland chops. Ashlin’s new dog Skip is a great English Setter. They are going to do some great things this season guiding for quail. We even taught Ayo how to flush so she can run them as a team. This is what dog training is all about. Helping each other, sharing knowledge, and always learning new ways to make the dogs in front of us better. Ashlin is one hell of a retriever trainer. Getting to teach her some upland work, watch her run her Labs this weekend, and spend time talking through different methods and philosophies was pretty damn cool. We may do things differently, but there’s always something to learn from another trainer. In just one weekend, we both walked away better at what we do. #dogtrainer #birddog #upland #englishsetter #setter

Tayler Appreciation Post! Tayler has been here for a little over a month now, and she’s become so much more than just a new employee. She’s my right hand (and sometimes my left hand too lol). She came in ready to learn and has picked things up faster than I could’ve imagined. She works her ass off every single day, even though I give her hell and tell her she doesn’t do anything. She’s here before the sun comes up, takes care of these dogs like they’re her own, and is already becoming one hell of a dog trainer. But what I appreciate most is how she’s pushed me to be better too. A better trainer, a better caretaker, and a better business owner. She’s brought in new ideas, built processes, and helped turn this place into a well-oiled machine. And she’s done all of that in just over a month. When I started Texas Bird Dogs, I wanted to build something special. Not just a place that trains good dogs, but a place where every dog gets the time, care, and attention they deserve. Tayler believes in that just as much as I do, and it shows in everything she does. I’m pretty damn lucky to have her by my side on this crazy journey. I couldn’t ask for a better person to help build what we’re building here. When you think of Texas Bird Dogs, I want you to think of Tayler too. Because she’s not just helping me run this place. She’s helping make it what it is. Tay Tay you tha best! @Tayler Brooks #dogtrainer #birddog #germanshorthairpointer #labrador #blacklab
