Detail 👇 If you can mimic how the tour pros are setting up to greenside bunker shots, you are a long way to solving your own bunker play. Wider stance, more knee flex, weight favouring target side and mainly square lines for alignment. Video is a Powerful tool here! In all Fullswing shots and a lot of shortgame shots we look to strike the ball clean, bunkers need you to control entry and exit point a tricky skill to develop. Setup helps this, then there are many practice games you can play to learn. 👕= @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟= @ECCO GOLF

Have a look at the scratch golfers, plus-handicap guys at your club, or even the pros’ bags you see on TV. You’ll see alignment sticks in most of them. I’ve given, and will continue to give, countless lessons on ball position and aim. They’re skills that need constant maintenance, because even for better players, they’re often the first things to move under pressure… and that can quickly spiral into poor play. Take the time to figure out what ball position works best for you, and how you need to aim to give yourself the best chance of playing your best golf. 🤝 #golf #golfhelp 🏌️ = @Avoda Golf 👕 = @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟 = @ECCO GOLF

Most players who break 90 have a good understanding of how far they hit each club with a solid strike. But developing a second number - around 8–12 yards shorter - can be a real scoring hack. The trajectory is slightly lower with a little less spin, making it a great option for releasing the ball into back pins. It’s also really useful in crosswinds or into the wind to help improve proximity. Simple starting points: - Ball position half a ball back from normal - Slightly shorter backswing - Shorter follow-through A good image to aim for is a typical Tommy Fleetwood follow-through. Enjoy 🤝 🏌️= @Avoda Golf 👕= @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟= @ECCO GOLF

564 yards, playing downhill all the way. The stream runs up the right side of the tee shot and layup before winding across the front of the green, making every shot a proper strategy test. Add in a breeze that can funnel into or down the hole, and the difficulty changes massively. Today it was calm, with only half a club of wind to deal with. I played a cut driver for position, followed by a flighted 5 iron and a 60° pitch to finish it off. I’ll often put the @FullSwingSimulators launch monitor out on course to capture real playing data and understand exactly what each shot is doing. The numbers behind the shots are just as important as the shots themselves 👌 ⛳️= @StMellionEstateUK

Ball first contact minimises moisture/debris caught between the face and ball - maximising friction! A deliberate toe strike will slow the ball speed, so you can have more club head speed increasing spin Handle close to left pocket (for right handed player) will give you the correct release pattern for max spin (narrow arc) 👕= @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟= @ECCO GOLF #golf #spin

The cut spinner will give you a solution for most short sided shots. In the above video, the speed of the green and slope means without the added spin you can’t get the ball to hold. - Set up closer to help with left club path. - Left allignment with the body and think slice, the club needs to cut across the ball. - For the low to mid launch you’ve got to get contact point low on the face this will minimise moisture/ debris between face and ball and max the friction. 👕= @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟= @ECCO GOLF #shortgame #cutspinner

The fairway finder is incredibly useful. The ability to hit driver more often can have a big impact on your scores. If you’re facing a tighter hole, try this simple formula. 1. Tee it lower. A lower tee encourages a steeper attack angle, creating a lower launch with slightly more spin. It’s not the recipe for maximum distance, but it’s great for finding more fairways. 2. Exit left through the ball. Let the hands and grip exit slightly left through impact. This tends to produce a fade bias, which works perfectly for accuracy on tighter holes. 3. Swing a couple % smoother. A slightly smoother swing often leads to better strike and control, which always helps when hitting driver. 👕 = @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟 = @ECCO GOLF #driver #golfhelp #golftips

Deceleration in the Shortgame!? A tricky shot for all skill levels but one I get asked a lot about in lessons. Here’s a concept not talked about a lot, but used by many of the world’s best. The club head isn’t slowing, but the body is. Can unlock the correct feel for maximising spin greenside 🤝 👕= @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟= @ECCO GOLF #golf #spin #shortgame

This is a great rule to take to the course. Only hit a club you don’t fear losing the ball with! If that’s driver - great! If you need to club down to an iron - fine! This instantly tells you one of two things: 1️⃣ The hole is tight! 2️⃣ You have work to do on your swing! For example, this is the 7th hole on the Nicklaus Course @StMellionEstateUK Where my driver lands, there’s just 35 yards of space between the water left and thick rough right. In most scenarios, I doubt my ability to find that target. So instead, I’m hitting a 3-iron into a 45-yard area. By choosing the shot that feels easier, I gain confidence and am more likely to make a committed swing! Would you take driver here, or play it safe? 👟 @ECCO GOLF 👕 @Castore UK #golf #golfhelp #golftips

Playing pros use loft Amateurs use a 7iron More loft means more flight and spin options greenside. By forcing yourself to get comfortable with a lob wedge, you will be radically improving face awareness. You also improve your understanding of release patterns and touchdown points compared to the alternative bump and run (one shot fits all) option. This also has its place, however I have come across no plus handicap players who are one dimensional around the greens. The lower the scoring average, the more I see manipulation around the greens and more of reliance on the lob wedge. 👕= @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟= @ECCO GOLF

The first You HAVE to play with a premium ball with a soft outer cover to generate maximum spin. I have done the testing - no one in the world can spin a cheap, hard ball! The second requirement is fresh grooves, meaning that relatively new wedges are needed. The grooves roll of channeling away debris and moisture is maximised, so friction increases. The firmness and speed of a green also makes a massive difference - often the spiniest wedge shots look this way as the greens are 12/13 on the stimp meter with a moderate firmness. After the above points are accounted for - it’s technique, enough attack angle, ball first contact and stretching out your spin loft window. 👕= @Castore UK | TYLER15 👟= @ECCO GOLF #golftips #shortgame #golf

If it’s good enough for Tiger, it’s good enough for the rest of us. This will work for all skill levels and is ideal when you have room to roll the ball out. Suits a P-6 iron as not much attack angle, more of a pick off the top 👕= @Castore UK | TYLER15

The first and most obvious difference is freshness of grooves. Access to new wedges almost weekly for some pros mean the face is pristine. The grooves roll of channeling away debris and moisture is maximised. The second is the ball. You HAVE to play with a premium 3+ piece ball to generate greenside spin. I have done the testing - no one in the world can spin a cheap, hard ball! You need lies where the ball will have minimal grass/ moisture between face and ball. Tour level courses are conditioned superbly and the fairways are so good that the lend themselves to spin. Further to that, pro golf events follow the seasons and sun around the world. The firmness and speed of a green makes a massive difference, often the spiniest wedge shots look this way as the greens are 12/13 on the stimp meter with a moderate firmness. After the above points are accounted for - it’s technique. If you would like some help, reach out - I have built 100s of players’ short games. #golftips #golf #shortgame
