This week, we feature Jasnoor Sandhu, who shares valuable advice on the importance of getting involved in leadership, research, and extracurricular opportunities during university. University offers a wide range of resources and experiences that can support both personal and professional growth. Jasnoor encourages students to take advantage of these opportunities while they are available, as they can become more difficult to access after graduation. A great reminder to explore your interests, build meaningful connections, and make the most of your university experience! #MentorshipMonday #UofT #UTM #StudentLeadership #UndergraduateResearch

Meet our new Outreach Assistant, Reet! Hi everyone! I’m Reet, a first-year student at UTM hoping to pursue Psychology with minors in French and Health, Environments, and Society. I joined the ChiLD Lab because I’m passionate about learning more about child development and psychology, and I’m especially interested in the research the lab conducts in these areas. I’m excited to grow my understanding of how complex research and knowledge can be translated into information that is accessible and meaningful to the wider community. I’m looking forward to developing my knowledge translation skills, contributing to sharing the lab’s research, and learning from everyone on the team! Outside of academics, I love dancing, travelling, exploring new places, and getting involved in community initiatives. I’m so excited to be part of the ChiLD Lab team and can’t wait to see what this year brings! 💙 #utm #utmchildlab

Meet our new Outreach Assistant, Kimberly! "Hello! My name is Kimberly. I’m a second-year student working towards a major in Psychology and a double minor in Biology and Sociology. I am fascinated by how our understanding of the world develops during childhood, especially because much of that development happens before we can even remember it! As a ChiLD Lab Outreach Assistant, I am excited to learn more about cognitive development and spread awareness about research that can support children's learning." #utmchildlab #utm

Meet our new member, Viktoriia! Hey everyone! My name is Viktoriia Bilokhvost (she/her), and I am starting my second year! I am currently in the Psych Major, and minoring in Biology and Education Studies! As a Taekwondo Instructor, I get to get to know children at all age levels, and that made me super curious about the different ways they learn, so I am very excited to be a part of the ChiLD Lab at UTM and get to learn about this topic and be able to share it with everyone interested. I am so happy I get to work with this amazing team and get to be a part of something bigger! In my free time, I love playing video games, listening to music, and going to concerts. Have I mentioned I’m super hyped for this year #utm #childlab #newmember #uoft #psychology

Meet our new member, Daia! Hi everyone! My name is Daia, and I am a 4th-year student majoring in Psychology and double minoring in Education Studies and Biology. I’m so excited to be completing my ROP with the Child Lab! I knew from a young age that I wanted to work with children, and I believe that understanding children’s development allows us to better support, educate, and understand them. My long-term goal is to become a special education teacher, so I’m especially excited to learn about research on child development, how it helps us understand and support children, and to gain hands-on experience in the lab. In my free time, I love reading and getting my hands on any new hobby I can try! I’m always looking for something new to get into #utmchildlab #utm #psychology #newmember

Mentorship Monday! Just a reminder to try things even when you don't feel fully ready yet. Many times, you won't feel ready, but you can still take the leap, learn along the way, and grow from the experience. Sometimes being ready isn't a feeling, it's a decision! #utm #mentorshipmonday #research #childlab #uoft
