Voltron Official (@watchvoltron)

happy birthday, keith ❤️ when we first met you 10 years ago, you were all alone, isolated in the desert. the only person who believed in you was missing, and you were so used to people leaving that you stopped expecting anyone would stay.

you knew, however, that shiro had promised he’d never give up on you, so you couldn’t give up on yourself, either. you returned the favor by rescuing him after his crash-landing on earth.

when shiro disappeared again, lance helped you see the team was hurting too. you realized you weren’t alone anymore. when you became team leader, lance stood by you, and you learned to admit when lance was right (more than once!!).

pidge understood that kind of pain as well, with family that also went missing on the kerberos mission. pidge never, ever stopped looking for them. sound familiar? neither of you ever gave up on the people you loved.

when everyone found out you were half-galra, nothing changed for hunk, because he knew you were still the exact same keith (obviously!). hunk helped show you there was such a thing as unconditional love.

you also learned that love could look like courage. when zarkon somehow kept finding the team, both you and allura independently felt guilty and tried to leave to protect the others. allura told you to respect the black lion’s choice, and you did. soon, you had an entire team that trusted you wholeheartedly.

you spent two years on a space whale with krolia, and you finally got to know your mom. you thought she prioritized the mission over everything else, but she left to protect you — so now we know where you get that from.

you came back with kosmo, a SPACE WOLF, which shocked no one, considering you’re definitely a dog person (as well as a lover of cryptids and hippos… all great choices!).

at the end of the day, we saw ourselves in you, keith. watching you learn to trust others inspired us to find our own people.

we love you more than you could possibly imagine (even as an animated character… you know what we mean).

happy birthday!!! ❤️
