Culture, community, and celebration filled Plummer Park at the 25th Annual WeHo Mishka Festival! 🎉 Residents and visitors came together to experience live music, dance, art, storytelling, cultural exhibits, and delicious international cuisine, honoring the rich traditions and contributions of Russian-speaking communities. The festival showcased the diverse heritage of more than 100 ethnic groups from across the former Soviet Union and featured memorable performances by Svetlana Portnyansky, Kristine W., Rustam Shtar, Laima Vaikule, and Alexey Vorobyov. Today is #DenimDay. Founded by the nonprofit Peace Over Violence, Denim Day raises awareness about rape and sexual assault, inspired by a 1999 Italian court case that overturned a rape conviction based on the victim’s tight jeans being misinterpreted as consent.

On April 4, the West Hollywood Library came alive with color, music, and joy at Drag Story Hour featuring Queen Angelina, our 2023 José Sarria Drag Pageant winner! 🎻✨ Kids danced, played, and enjoyed a lively musical performance from Queen Angelina, a classically trained violinist and Latinx drag artist. The City’s Drag Laureate, Pickle, also highlighted how storytellers use sensory and inclusive techniques to help children connect with each story. ❤️ 🏳️‍🌈 Love filled the dance floor at “I Love Flagging” at West Hollywood Park! Presented by The Lavender Effect in partnership with SoCal Flaggers, this lively Valentine’s Day event brought people of all ages together for music, dancing, and free flagging lessons. The celebration honored the vibrant history of flagging, a dance style that emerged in gay clubs in the late ’70s and early ’80s, featuring colorful flags, a live DJ, and a welcoming community vibe. ✨ Find more upcoming events at weho.org/calendar ✨

🌈 ⭐️ On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8 PM to 3 AM, the intersection at Santa Monica Blvd and N. San Vicente Blvd will now operate with a nighttime all-pedestrian phase, allowing people to cross in every direction — including diagonally — while all vehicle traffic stops to enhance safety in the Rainbow District. ⭐️ 🌈

💛 Smiles, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart filled West Hollywood Elementary during the 2026 WeHo Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service! On January 31, families, students, and neighbors rolled up their sleeves to clean, plant, and beautify, turning service into a joyful community celebration. 🌱✨ Honoring Dr. King’s message of kindness and equality, the day showed that when we help one another, everyone belongs. We're debuting a new season of Moving Image Media Art (MIMA), featuring bold, thought-provoking works by Alexandre Arrechea, Kordae Henry, Sarah Cwynar, Da’Shaunae Marisa, Jessica Wimbley, Richard Mapes, Pix3lface, and Shoji Yamasaki. From February 1 through May 31, 2026, these dynamic artworks will appear at the top of every hour on digital billboards along Sunset Boulevard.
