In China I was the co-host of a nationally broadcast Mandarin language talkshow. In this episode I was selected by our producers to go against our celebrity guest He Jiong (何炅) in a motivational speaking contest. He Jiong was the host of the #1 talkshow and TV program in the entire country on Hunan TV (湖南卫视） To beat He Jiong I knew I had to have a killer story, so I chose very, very carefully in the week leading up to the recording. After He Jiong spoke, I told this story about Ontario’s @jamescameronofficial , born and raised in Kapuskasing. In the heat of the moment on live TV I was not 100% accurate on the timelines and every detail, but it got the job done. I beat He Jiong in the fan voting online after this episode aired. It was pretty mind boggling to beat China’s #1 TV host at a speaking competition but honestly it had nothing to do with me. It was just recounting the life story about the KING OF KAPUSKASING. James Cameron is the highest grossing director of all time. Avatar, Avatar 2, and Titanic hold 3 of the top 4 spots among the highest grossing films globally in history. The biggest theme of his Avatar series, conservation, was possibly shaped during his upbringing in the GREAT AND POWERFUL ONTARIO. James Cameron is quite possibly the most epic WILD ONTARIO LEGEND there ever was, spreading important messages of conservation to billions of people across the globe. MAY THE GODS BLESS THE KING OF KAPUSKASING. 🫡🤝⚡️🐺🌲 #ontario

Ontario’s water protection laws are under attack. The provincial government is proposing changes to critical water protection laws in order to ease regulations for construction projects. This will result in a drastic reduction in government oversight of construction activities and their impacts on freshwater systems, our most precious resource for drinking water. These changes would: 🚰 Weaken important drinking water laws. 💧Allow exemptions which increase the current water-taking limits for construction activities. 🌳Remove the requirement to inform Conservation Authorities about water-taking. 🏭Open up the door to more polluting industries to find loopholes! The proposed changes also increase the risk of groundwater depletion, floods, pollution from stormwater runoff, and droughts resulting from inadequate stormwater management. Tell the Ontario government we need to maintain and strengthen - not weaken - Ontario’s water protection laws. Public consultation for these changes closes on Oct 30th. Thanks to the great and powerful @envirodefence for organizing this email drive! Give them a follow! 🫡🤝⚡️🦁🌲 #ontario

Beavers build dams and lodges using tree branches, vegetation, rocks and mud; they chew down trees for building material. Dams restrict water flow, and lodges serve as shelters. Their infrastructure creates wetlands used by many other species, and because of their effect on other organisms in the ecosystem, beavers are considered a keystone species. Adult males and females live in monogamous pairs with their offspring. After their first year, the young help their parents repair dams and lodges; older siblings may also help raise newly-born offspring. Beavers hold territories and mark them using scent mounds made of mud, debris, and castoreum—a liquid substance excreted through the beaver's urethra-based castor sacs. Beavers can also recognize their kin by their anal gland secretions and are more likely to tolerate them as neighbors. These Beavers will be released in the spring next year by @aspenvalleywildlifesanctuary in Muskoka, which is the largest mammal-focused Wildlife rescue and rehab organization in all of Ontario! #ontario Source: Wikipedia 📸 @aspenvalleywildlifesanctuary
