there’s so much that i want to say, need to say. but those are words only you should see. soon but for now i sit here outside in the parking lot looking at the rain fall. i always liked the comfort of the dark clouds (1) how long has it been since i really sat in attendance to speak with you again. these days it seems i only come to you when i need something. perhaps my faith wasn’t as strong as i made it out to to be. every time i feel the familiar texture of these carpets, memories of each and every mistake wash over me like a wave. in the corner of this grand room exists a warmth that invites vulnerability, one that hugs me each time i seat myself. i try to change, i want to change, and you know this better than i or anyone else. but a feeling without action is just a feeling at the end of the day. today i take a vow in front of you. one to be better, and not simply wish for you to make me so. my heart aches terribly, a constant reminder of the pain i’ve caused others. i want to love, because my love is true, but what else is an inconsiderate mind capable of, other than hurt? you see me for who i am, what i think, what i feel. my intentions are never of ill will, but how long can i hide behind a curtain of truth that only i know of, that others can’t see? my actions don’t reflect the man i’ve begged you to make me. i don’t want this anymore, and i won’t be this anymore. wether the people i wanted to see that are around me or not. perhaps it is like they say, that a man is the clay and the sculptor but it is the catalyst of your flame, your doing, that will ground my pliable skin and malleable soul to the virtues i so desire. i don’t want to hurt anymore. is it fear or duty that compels a man to action? how many times, in moments of your own complacency, have you let the worst outcome come true? fear has, and is, what keeps us alive. the fear of death, the fear of loss, the fear of failure. but where does that fear come from? is it truly so easy to name attachment as the root cause for the reason we draw breath within our chest and continue to stride forward? and if not for the fear of these attachments, is it duty that causes us to get out of bed in the morning? the feeling that we should. should. should. should. but what if it isn’t enough. the concept of why has been the biggest enemy in my life since as far back as i can remember. to never really fit in to a role, or a title. struggling with finding the meaning to try other than the feeling of i “should”. if there is no fear of losing the attachments that i swear are so dear to my soul, why continue to move forward? its easy to list reasons as to why we do something, but, more often than not, it seems those reasons we list are birthed out of the feeling of “should” as well. you’ve felt it too, haven’t you? for if you truly believed the words you say, and the fear of not living up to those words was buried deep within your heart your goals would have already been achieved.
