Coming up for air after a whirlwind few weeks—kids, life, the world upside down, and Burning Man (more on that later). I slipped into a bit of hibernation with my family and somewhere in the middle of it all, completely forgot to share our September book pick. But maybe that’s for the best because truthfully, I’ve had a hard time choosing just one. There are so many incredible stories calling my name right now. When life feels chaotic, books are the place I turn to. They slow me down, ground me, and remind me of all the beauty and perspective out there. If you're feelin’ a bit nuts, this recipe might be just what you’re looking for. ingredients: *approx. 1 cup raw almonds *approx. 3 cups fresh water ( *sweeteners - a handful pitted dates, 1 tsp honey, pinch cinnamon to taste equipment: *blender or food processor (for the dates) *nut milk bag or cheesecloth *large bowl for soaking recipe + instructions: place 1 cup of almonds in a bowl, cover with water, and let soak overnight – about 8-12 hours – to soften the almonds. (3:1 ratio water / almonds) drain + rinse the almonds, then add them to a blender with the water. toss in a few pitted dates, a teaspoon of honey, and a pinch of cinnamon for sweetness + flavor. 🍯 strain mixture through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth into a clean bowl, squeezing out all the creamy goodness. 🥛
