Fall is here and we’re starry-eyed for mums, marigolds, dahlias, and roses! 🤩🌹 The flowers of this season of change are as boldly colorful as the red, orange, and yellow foliage soon to kick off here at the Garden. Be sure to catch this year’s dahlia trial in the Home Gardening Center, where we’ve crossed cultivars to create a fascinating range of new flowers. And in the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, you can still experience the final bloom of the year! Then stay tuned for chrysanthemums and marigolds a-plenty when Día de los Muertos kicks off on October 3—followed by Kiku later in the season. #fall #fallflowers #thingstodoinnyc #autumn #plants

It’s dahlia season once again here at the Garden, signaling that fall’s just around the corner! And this collection is a special one. We talked to curator Chris about a new trial where we crossed commercially available dahlias to create whole new cultivars. 🌸 #dahlia #planttok #horticulture

What’s in your bag? The better question is: what’s in OUR bag? The Waterlily Weigh-Off is on, and we’re seeing how much of our average workday this year’s leaf can hold. 💪🪷   Trowels, landscaping books, water bottles, and even spare plants—Zack’s Sprayground Conservatory bag is packed to the brim with everything he needs to get through his day as an NYBG horticulturist extraordinaire. But will all his green thumb stuff sink our chances of claiming the 2026 WLWO championship?   Come find out as we take the plunge!   #WaterlilyWeighOff #WhatsInMyBag @Denver Botanic Gardens #garden #planttok #waterlily

What’s a “be-in”? While Flower Power continues at NYBG, hear from Jose and Michaela as they dive into the history of the counterculture movement in @Central Park Conservancy!   In the 1960s and ‘70s, Sheep Meadow was the main gathering point for a number of these events—part concert, part protest—that brought together young people from throughout the diverse neighborhoods of New York City. A big part of the movement’s focus included a return to nature, and green spaces like Central Park provided the perfect opportunity.   Experience the role nature played in Flower Power at NYBG, on view through October 18, and don’t miss ongoing summer tours and events from our friends at Central Park! #centralpark #thingstodo #nyc #gardentok

Even plants have to deal with high summer temperatures, and they have plenty of different techniques for beating the heat. ☀️ With a cold drink or a popsicle off the table for our green friends, plants like those in the desert galleries of the Haupt Conservatory deploy everything from waxy palm fronds to silvery hairs that reflect sunlight, keeping water in and the sun at bay. 😎 #plantsoftiktok #learneditontiktok #desert #gardentok
