Thanksgiving’s over, so these cranberries are suddenly “surplus” 🙃 Everyone talks about eating your leftovers. Nobody talks about what happens before the food even gets to your fridge. The grocery system orders for a holiday. When the holiday ends, demand drops overnight, and perfectly good cranberries get cut. They’re not bruised or expired. They just showed up a few days after the calendar moved on 😔 This was the reality last year (when this was filmed), and it’s happening again right now, because the system plans around dates, not around food. It's rejection story time 🍊 20,000 grapefruit. Turned away because their skin is a little loose 😒 but it's what's on the inside that counts right? Our supplier cut them open on site. Bright, juicy, full segments, tasting exactly like grapefruit should. Rejected on cosmetic grading, not quality. So we took them 🙌 They're in Ontario and Quebec boxes this week, delivered to your door for 30-50% less than grocery store prices. Drink your beer and eat it too 🥰 Find these crackers and MORE in our Pantry Box this week - order by tonight to get by Saturday, Sep 26th! Take a can of chickpeas (part of last week's Pantry box if you got it!) + a beetroot from your produce box to make some beetroot hummus which would pair PERFECTLY with these crackers 🫜recipe below! INGREDIENTS • 2 medium beets • 540 milliliters canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed • 3 tablespoons tahini • 2 garlic cloves • 3 tablespoons lemon juice • 3 tablespoons olive oil • 0.5 teaspoons ground cumin • 0.8 teaspoons salt • 2 tablespoons cold water STEPS 1. Roast the beets: Heat the oven to 400°F. Wrap 2 medium beets individually in foil and roast until a knife slides through easily. 2. Cool and peel: Let the beets cool until you can handle them, then rub the skins off with a paper towel and roughly chop. 3. Blend the base: Add 3 tablespoons tahini, 3 tablespoons lemon juice, and 2 garlic cloves to a food processor and blend until creamy. 4. Add everything else: Add the chopped beets, 540 milliliters canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed, 0.5 teaspoons ground cumin, and 0.8 teaspoons salt. Blend while slowly pouring in 3 tablespoons olive oil. 5. Adjust and serve: Blend in 2 tablespoons cold water a little at a time until smooth. Taste and add more lemon or salt if needed. Serve with a drizzle of olive oil. Top the hummus with crumbled feta, dill, or toasted seeds. It keeps in the fridge for up to 5 days. What are you eating with these crackers? 👀👇🏼

Gingerbread all year-round would be a blessing tbh 🎄🧑🏻‍🎄😌 Sadly the grocery calendar disagrees. Holiday SKUs get a window, and once a retailer's seasonal reset comes through, anything with a snowflake on the box stops being orderable. Not because it went off. Because the shelf plan moved on. So a perfectly good biscotti becomes somebody's problem, purely over timing. We took the lot.
