Not only did I not force my child to clean up, but I didn’t even ask her to clean up. I simply supported her in her room, and she saw the steps needed to keep her room clean, and when she asked me to do that. I did that. Now she’s doing it herself. It was a natural, loving, process. I am offering parent mentoring sessions and the link is in my bio. I’m also starting a parent support group so message me if you’re interested. #cleanupwithkids #chores #consciousparenting #momsoftiktok #noncoercivecollaborativeparenting #healing #playfulparenting #noncoerciveparenting #motheringlikeaboss #parents #lovemykids #stopthecycle #mother #moms #cleaning #cleaningup #kidsandmess #parentingtips #mykidsroom

My partner and I are using next level boundaries and we sound like total weirdos BUT it’s working. We are learning to ask for what we want in loving ways. IFS has helped us own and help our inner parts instead of unconsciously projecting everything onto each other. It’s hard work! ##couple##ifs##couples##couplescomedy##mom

I honestly am very anti-celebrity in general. The whole celebrity worshiping culture is the most disgusting, toxic, harmful industry in every way. But I have to be honest that Rosie O’Donnell is one of my few exceptions because her activism stands the test of time. So when I found out that she was following me and then she told me that I was fierce, it did make me see myself anew. I’m a bad-ass and there’s just no mistaking this fact. 🩷❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥 #mom #rosie #rosieodonnell #fierce #beautiful

TALENT ISN’T EVERYTHING: A Bad Art Experiential Concert with Rythea Lee Rythea Lee invites you into the creative world of Bad Art…hers and yours. She will sing her irreverent, goofy, and moving songs, ramble a bit about the joyful risks of being vulnerable, and lead you through quick, 4-minute rounds of Bad Art — a practice of making messy, unfiltered, unpredictable, and hopefully terrible art. Expect scribbling, drawing, writing, and embodiment exercises - you will not be asked to perform (this is quiet, internal bad art). Performance meets experience. Passive viewing meets engagement. Individual expression meets aliveness. Come listen to music and connect with yourself! Rythea Lee is a mom, activist, performer, trauma therapist, author, workshop leader, social media content creator, Bad Art practitioner, singer-songwriter, and all around wild, untamed human who is working to change the world by breaking generational cycles of silence and harm. She is on fire with creativity and loves helping people tap into their truths through humor and authenticity. We are only selling 50 tickets so it will sell out! Link in my bio/linktree. #show #music #comedy #art #experience

It’s hard enough to live through extreme violence at the hands of your own parents, but then trauma survivors have to deal with a society that is uneducated and in massive denial about what happens to children. The insensitive, invalidating, and even cruel comments we have to deal with on a daily basis if we speak up, is exhausting and at its worst, dangerous. I’m hopeful that with the emergence of information about SA, organized abuse, and trafficking, at a grand scale, means people are waking up to what survivors have known for so long. That it happens, it happens so much more than people believe, it’s happening through systematic power that is buried and unchecked, and it must end. #mom #sexualabuse #trafficking #trauma #therapist @thealesandrarodriguez @Your Kids Don’t Suck @Glennon Doyle @Abby @thedrewbarrymoreshow

I learned “Teach your kids to disobey you“ from my dear friend and mentor @Meaningful Ideas Vivek Patel, who changed my life. One of the most wonderful things about raising my daughter in a non-coercive, collaborative framework, is that she is constantly speaking up for her rights in our family and in our relationship. She actually shows me the places I’m being shaming, controlling, and unfair. Because I have supported her voice, her opinion, and her emotional responses to things, she freely speaks her mind and I couldn’t be happier. How do we expect our children to go out in the world and protect themselves, speak up, and know who they are if we won’t let them do it at home? If we constantly punish them for crossing us, then it’s not a trusting close relationship, it’s domination. If this intrigues you, please go down the rabbit hole of my podcast called “your kids don’t suck” link in my bio. #mom #momlife #parents #parenting #parentingtips

Macklemore is one of my heroes. I love him, I love his music, and I love his message. But how could it be that Ed Sheeran didn’t know that Macklemore was going to stand up for Palestinian rights at the show? It literally makes no sense. #edsheeran #macklemore #ed #sheeran

Even though, this might seem exaggerated, I hear so many parents react in similar ways. They cannot see that their child is a separate person who is dependent on them for absolutely everything, including their development of self-love. When parents shame and blame their kids in this way, they force their child to be responsible for their feelings and well being. This becomes a threat to a child’s survival and creates deep anxiety and stress. It also creates ongoing separation between child and parent, because the child has to defend against this level of blame and threat. Children are good and even when they say things that sound harmful, they are learning, growing, testing, trying, expressing, and reaching for loving guidance. Their brains cannot learn about closeness when survival is in the balance. They have to comply or resist in order to hold on to who they are. Even though we, as parents cannot do this perfectly, we can keep an eye on the places where we make our children responsible for our feelings. We can repair when we mis-step. We can learn about collaboration, empathy, and self-responsibility #mom #momlife #parents #parentingtips #parenting @Meaningful Ideas Vivek Patel @thealesandrarodriguez @Parenting with Désirée

Not Saying It’s Me, But… It’s Me: a 7-Week Support Group For Parents Moving Towards Collaboration and Non-Coercion Sunday evenings 6:00pm to 7:15pm EST on Zoom September 13th to October 25th Facilitated by Rythea Lee Recordings of each group will be available to all registrants. If you miss a group, you will be able to access the recording. This group is for parents who are testing, trying, and implementing non-coercive, collaborative practices with their kids and family. It’s for those who are struggling yet devoted to treating their kids as whole human beings, while working on their triggers. You can be at the beginning of this process or deep into letting go of punishments, consequences, and power-over parenting. Wherever you are, this group will assist you to move to the next level of love between you and your child(ren). Each Sunday, we will bring in a topic—such as screen time, bed time, food, boundaries, play, family conflict, or chronic triggers—and invite you to write for 10 minutes about your feelings and challenges around the topic. We will then open the space for sharing, getting input, and receiving empathy from both me and group members. As your facilitator, I will educate and give suggestions within the non-coercive, collaborative philosophy developed and taught to me by my mentor, Vivek Patel. This group is an essential tool for parents to receive support in a community environment, to explore without being judged, and to hear from others who are dealing with similar issues, blocks, fears, and even victories. You are not alone and we all need help to break generational cycles that we no longer believe in. To REGISTER , go to link in my bio.#mom #parents #parentingtips #parenting #dad

I’m doing my darndest to illustrate how parents and adults treat children like objects that they get to control. It seems so harmless, but over time, this level of control undermines children’s autonomy, sense of self, and ability to have a voice. So many parents are reacting from their triggers and from scripts they have been given about how to make children behave. There’s a whole other way to be close with our kids that includes collaboration, communication, and taking your responsibility for our own wounds. If this intrigues you, please go listen to my podcast! Link in bio. @yourkidsdontsuck_pod #mom #parents #parentingtips #parenting #dad

Part 3 of 3. I just know there are other survivors out there trying to manage their traumas and have a life at the same time- and I want to say to you, I get it, you are not alone, it’s the hardest thing ever. We live in a world that doesn’t see us, hear us, or support us after living through unimaginable horrors. We are expected to shut up and keep going. I can tell you that with the right support and validation, healing is possible. You are not broken or ruined, you are traumatized and it’s not your fault. I hope I can be a bit of a friend for you and let you know that your trauma is real, PTSD is real, the backlash, the fallout, the isolation, the terror, it’s all real. I’m stand beside you. I walk beside you. I believe in you. #survivor #trauma #sexualabuse #therapy #healing

This is me and my partner. I’m the one who blurts out the thing. I try really hard not to. I don’t want to push past his boundaries, but it’s just so hard for me! And it’s hard for him! But we do laugh at how we have opposite needs in this regard. It’s not our fault. Our brains are different. 🩷❤️🤣#neurodivergent #neurodiversity #partner #marriage #todo
