es, I flew from NYC to Oregon to go inside Bella Swan’s house from Twilight. @twilightswanhouse This is the ACTUAL house from the movie, not a replica. They filmed both the exterior and interior scenes here. Today, it’s an Airbnb in St. Helens, Oregon that I’m still dying to stay in. But it’s really hard to get a reservation…I’ve tried. Normally you can’t just walk through the house unless you’re staying there, but this October they were offering special tours in connection with @Spirit of Halloweentown. So obviously, I jumped on a plane. The house tour was a $20 add-on to my Spirit of Halloweentown ticket, and you get to walk through Bella’s bedroom, the kitchen, living room and other rooms you’ll recognize from the movie. And St. Helens itself is worth exploring if you’re a Twilight fan because parts of downtown doubled as Port Angeles in the first movie, including the prom dress shop, the restaurant where Bella and Edward go for dinner, and the area where Edward rescues Bella. So if you’re planning a Twilight road trip, definitely put St. Helens, Oregon, on your list. Even if you’re not staying at the house or joining a tour, they allow you to take photos in front of the house. Just please be respectful!! Go here before it closes in 2027. The opulent Palais Garnier opera house in Paris was the inspiration for the Phantom of the Opera. And it’s definitely worth a visit next time you’re in Paris. It’s one of the most beautiful theaters in the world, and its history clearly and very specifically inspired the Phantom book and then musical. For example, the real life opera house has an underground reservoir that inspired the lake in the book and musical. Unfortunately, you don’t get to tour that when you visit. But it’s real. And in 1896, there was a very unfortunate fatal accident involving one of the chandeliers that directly inspired the famous chandelier scene in Phantom. And after almost 18 years of living in NYC, I can confidently say YES. The views are incredible, and it’s really magical going up to the top of one of the most iconic buildings in the world. A bookish girlies dream…Just a few hours from New York City is a quirky village full of used bookstores. It’s fun pretty small but it’s very fun to browse shops like Blenheim Books, The Book Nook and The Hobart Exchange . Everyone was so nice and all of the stores we shopped at were dog friendly. There’s also a cute inn and bar - Book Village Inn.
