Did you know Cincinnati has a Gaslight District!? 💡

Tucked into historic Clifton, the Clifton Gaslight District is known for its beautiful homes, local shops and restaurants, and its iconic gaslight-lined streets.

Cincinnati’s gaslight history dates back to the 1830s, but the rise of electricity in the late 1800s led to thousands of gas lamps being replaced throughout the city.

Clifton was one of the exceptions. While many of the lamps along Ludlow Avenue are no longer gas-lit, you can still find working gaslights along some of the neighborhood’s residential streets, giving them that distinctive warm, buttery-yellow glow. ✨#cincinnati #cincyexperience Collaboration with explore.cincinnati

Did you know these five Cincinnati restaurants have been serving the city for over 100 years?! 🤯🍽️🏙️ From youngest to oldest: 1. Zip’s Cafe in Mount Lookout, which just turned 100 years old in 2026! 🎉 Known for their classic Zip Burger, and beef from local butcher Avril Bleh which has alway been in Cincy for over 125+ years too 🍔 2. Scotti’s Italian Restaurant, serving Cincinnati for 114 years. 🇮🇹 If you’ve been to this Cincinnati icon, you already know the mosaic-tiled walls, Chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling, and old-school Italian charm. 🍷 We loved the Cannelloni Lombardi, and the minestrone soup was SO good. 3. The Century Inn restaurant at 120 years! While the inn itself dates back more than 200 years the restaurant came later and is known for classic American comfort food, especially the fried chicken. 🍗 4. The second-oldest stop is Arnold’s Bar & Grill, which has been around for over 165 years! Their outdoor courtyard is cute and the burgers are 👌. We had the Figgy Smalls, and it was absolute perfection. 🍔✨ 5. And finally the oldest restaurant in the Cincinnati area is The Golden Lamb. 🐑✨ Established in 1803, it’s been welcoming guests for more than 220 years, actually making it the oldest continuously operated business in Ohio. The restaurant and inn are full of history, and you have to try their famous fried chicken. 🍗 Check out over a CENTURY of Cincinnati history and deliciousness! Cheers ❤️🏙️ Collaboration with forkcincinnati

  • The crazy reason this Mt Adams bar doesn’t serve tequila 🤯 One of the best places to enjoy a view… – video by @cincyexperience , 1.8K views, duration 1:14

The crazy reason this Mt Adams bar doesn’t serve tequila 🤯 One of the best places to enjoy a view of Downtown is from the back patio of City View Tavern in Mt Adams. If you’ve ever stopped in for a drink, you may have noticed there’s one thing you won’t find behind the bar, and that's tequila. According to urban legend, infamous criminal and cult leader Charles Manson briefly lived just down the street from City View Tavern on Oregon Street. Born in Cincinnati in 1934, Manson reportedly visited the tavern from time to time. The story goes that sometime in the mid-to-late 1960s, Manson would go to the City View Tavern and down exclusively tequila shots, claiming he could fly from the tavern's deck. He threatened to try, prompting the bartender to take all the tequila, pour it down the drain, and make a vow to never serve tequila again. There’s just one problem with the story: Manson spent much of the 1960s in prison, making the timeline a little questionable. Still, several people who lived in the neighborhood have sworn that they knew him and that he occasionally visited the tavern. So, is it true? Is it Urban legend? We may never know. But there’s one part of the story you can verify for yourself: City View Tavern still doesn’t serve tequila, despite what some of the signs may say. Instead, just order just about any other drink, grab a burger, and enjoy a front-row seat to one of Cincinnati’s most iconic skyline views! Collaboration with explore.cincinnati

Cincinnati has been popping off with new café openings lately, and I’m not complaining. ☕✨ ✨First up the new bakery at Pho Lang Thang is serving up Vietnamese inspired sweet and savory pastries. • Did you know Cincinnati once had a canal running right through downtown? The Miami & Erie Canal… – video by @cincyexperience , 9.8K views, duration 2:09

Did you know Cincinnati once had a canal running right through downtown? The Miami & Erie Canal, completed in 1845, stretched nearly 250 miles from Cincinnati to Toledo, connecting the Ohio River to Lake Erie and helping transform Ohio’s economy. The canal once followed the path of today’s Central Parkway and Eggleston Avenue, and it’s even the reason "Over-the-Rhine" got its name! As railroads took over and the canal became increasingly polluted, it fell into decline. After the Great Dayton Flood of 1913, much of the canal was destroyed, and Cincinnati began building its famous subway system in the old canal bed. The subway was never completed, and Central Parkway eventually covered much of the canal’s path. If you could bring one back, would you choose the canal or the subway? In case you weren’t aware, Cincinnati has a thing for soft serve ice cream. Known as creamy whip to locals, this sweet treat can be found all year round, but is most iconic in the warmer months when dozens of neighborhood shops open to serve skillfully swirled cones for the season. From the perfect photo op in front of The Cone’s iconic ice cream shaped exterior, to a post hike treat at Putz’s on the edge of Mt. Airy Forest, a nice cool creamy whip on a hot summer day may just be my personal favorite Cincy tradition. Each creamy whip spot brings its own unique flair, but there are some recurring trends: candy coatings, flavor bursts, and (of course) local favorite blue creamy whip, which is available at almost every shop. What’s your favorite Cincy creamy whip? 🍦 #cincyexperience #cincinnati

Did you know Cincinnati is known as the “Birthplace of American Astronomy”? The Cincinnati Observatory in Mt. Lookout is home to one of the oldest working telescopes in the world. Its story began in 1842, when professor Ormsby MacKnight Mitchel went door to door asking Cincinnatians to donate $25 (about a month’s salary at the time) to help build an observatory. After raising nearly $7,500, he traveled to Munich, Bavaria and purchased a beautiful 11-inch Merz and Mahler refractor, originally built for a Russian czar. The telescope was shipped to New Orleans where it made its way up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to the banks of Cincinnati. The original observatory was located in Mount Adams, where the Monastery Event Center stands today. Thousands gathered for its 1843 dedication, including President John Quincy Adams, who coined the Observatory's nickname “Lighthouse of the Sky.” First used in 1845, the telescope was the largest in the Western Hemisphere and third largest in the world. In 1873, the Observatory relocated to escape the city’s pollution, giving Mt. Lookout its name. A new Greek Revival building designed by Samuel Hannaford was built there. In 1904, the Observatory would add a 16-inch Alvan Clark & Sons refractor from Cambridge, Massachusetts, along with a second building on the campus to house it. The Cincinnati Observatory was revolutionary, directly influencing the publishing of the nation’s first astronomy journal to helping inspire the first weather forecasts and the creation of the National Weather Service. Today, it remains a fully functioning observatory where visitors can still look through the same historic telescopes more than 180 years later. Huge shoutout to Kelsey from the Observatory for the awesome tour! Collaboration with explore.cincinnati

Art in Bloom, one of my favorite springtime traditions in Cincinnati, is back at the Cincinnati Art Museum. This annual exhibition brings together floral artists from around the globe to reinterpret the museum’s art with fresh blooms. The resulting floral displays are always stunning, breathing new life into art spanning cultures and centuries. There are over 60 art and flower pairings to discover throughout the galleries, and each one brings a different point of view, from the curve of a branch following a rounded frame, to bursts of delicate flowers emulating impressionist brush strokes. Art in Bloom continues through this weekend, check out the Cincinnati Art Museum’s website for all the details on the event. 🌸🖼️

Visiting the Ault Park Weeping Cherry tree grove is one of my favorite springtime traditions in Cincinnati. The grove was planted almost 100 years ago, when 1,000 cherry trees were gifted to the city in the 1930s. Cincinnati Parks staff and the Japan America Society have cared for and grown the grove ever since. A sunny day during peak bloom is a perfect time for a picnic, photoshoot, or simple stroll through the grove, especially when there’s a nice breeze blowing petals through the air like snow. 🌸☀️🍃 #cincinnati #cincyexperience

Did you know there's a "castle" tucked at the base of Mt. Adams?   Elsinore Arch was built in 1883 for the Cincinnati Water Works to be a valve house for the massive reservoir that once resided in Eden Park. So, why does it look like a castle?   Well, in the Spring of 1883, Cincinnati hosted the Shakespearean Dramatic Festival at Music Hall, which featured a well-anticipated performance of Hamlet. In this show, a huge backdrop painting of the Kronborg Castle in Denmark set the scene. In the audience happened to be A.G. Moore, the Water Works superintendent. He was so impressed by the backdrop that he hired Samuel Hannaford and Sons to build a valve house inspired by the set. $15,000 and less than a year's worth of work later, Cincinnati was home to probably the coolest water valve house on earth.   The reservoir it served opened in 1878 and once held up to 100 million gallons of water. By the 1960s, both basins had been filled in and repurposed. Today, the upper basin is home to Mirror Lake, while the lower basin has been transformed into green space with basketball courts and a playground, with much of the original retaining wall still intact. More than 140 years later, the climb up the stone steps past Elsinore Arch still stands as arguably the most scenic entrance into Eden Park. Collaboration with explore.cincinnati
