Why did nobody tell me these painting tricks sooner? One. Before painting a door, put a balloon over the door handle. It works even better than using tape, you know that. Two. Before painting a wall, make sure to remove all the loose fibers from a new roller. Then your paint will go on much smoother. Two. Grab a wide putty knife and press it tightly against the corner. Push the roller along the edge of the knife and you won't get one paint color bleeding into the other. 3. Still bending over and sticking down. Floor Protection little by little. Put the painter's tape right onto the roller handle. Roll and press as you go. You can cover the whole room in just five minutes, and your back won't be killing you afterward. Four. Hate cleaning paint trays. Line the tray with a drawstring trash bag before pouring in the paint. When you're done, just lift out the bag, cut a tiny corner at the bottom, pour the leftover paint back into the can, and you don't even have to wash the tray. Five. Does paint always run down the side when you pour from a big bucket? Make a hole in the lid, hot glue a bottle neck over the opening. Now the paint pours neatly without running everywhere. Screw the cap back on to keep the paint sealed and fresh. 6. Painting a ceiling from up high and worried about paint splattering on your face. Tie a Clear umbrella onto the roller pole. All the paint splatter gets caught in the umbrella. 7. Attach a brush to a plastic bottle. Then when you start painting, the paint won't drip onto your hand. 8. Got paint dripping onto the floor? Just sprinkle some sugar over it, then wipe it gently and it'll come right off. 9. Taking a break in the middle of a paint job? Seal the paint roller inside a plastic bag, then keep it in the fridge. Take it out the next day and it'll still be wet and ready to use. Save these tricks for your next renovation. They could save you thousands on painting costs.
