The stuff that keeps me up at night, fr fr 😔 This isn’t me saying that social media/ phones don’t serve some type of purpose. This is me saying that I think as phone usage, content making, and social media profiles have grown over the years, we’ve lost the magic of spending quality time with each other without having that crutch. It feels like a vice just like, nicotine, alcohol or weed. It’s a drug (dopamine giver) in a way that can be abused just like everything else. And in a world where people connect from all over because of our phones, sometimes the consequence of that is not being present, in mind body and spirit, with the people literally closest to you who have the most impact on our physical realities. I feel like I saw it in a magnified and deeper way and it really changed the way I see what should and shouldn’t be ‘normal’. Day 6/30 of posting my first take 📸 challenge, but this one is a drafty TT made me replace the sound guys but this one works too 😭 I actually took this SO LONG AGO, and have procrastinated posting it for two reasons. One, because my stick warped and this is the last vid I got using it 😭😭 and it makes me so sad because it was THE PERFECT STICK. Posting this feels like a funeral 😭 And two, because it wasn’t ‘perfect’. I didn’t have a reason necessarily to post it until now. What’s so funny about this video to me, was that this was the first of MANY attempts at this sound and session. I think I attempted this probably a dozen times (because it was fun but also because I kept telling myself I could do it better). This was actually one of the times I tried so many times I ended up getting frustrated and lost steam and had to switch it up and forget about it and look at the 5 drafts I made to pick ‘the best one’. I realized that the one I felt had the most energy and spontaneity was the first take, and as I was trying to edit it, something happened to the app and the video disappeared. I kept opening my drafts and it was just gone and I was like… what the fuck! So sad. I felt like I lost something I wasn’t ready to part with yet. Like super super sad lol. I kept looking at the other drafts and was like, nope. Not the same. Damn.. I can’t believe it’s just gone, and an hour or two went by and I realized I actually accidentally posted it onto my story instead 😂 I deleted it to re-edit it, added the words and it’s been hiding in my drafts ever since. It’s not perfect, the stick betrayed me but we kept it going, and looking back I’m glad I kept this because I didn’t know a challenge like this would be sent my way to make it see the light of day, but also I can now give my stick of 7+ years a proper goodbye 🥲🥲😭🫶🏼 So thanks for hearing my rambles, and watching my silly first take that almost was lost forever.
